Elena Solovova

(06.11.1956 - 05.07.2019)

Elena Solovova, Professor, D.Sc. in Pedagogic Sciences, has made a deep impact on the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages in Russia. A prominent researcher and teacher, she is the author of books and papers on ELT methodology. She headed the State English Exam (EGE) materials developers from 2004 through 2019.

Elena Solovova taught at top Russian Universities, including Moscow Pedagogical State University, Moscow State University and Higher School of Economics, where she was the founder and the first Head of University's Department of Foreign Languages.

 

Elena Solovova's textbooks for Russian schools, as well as exam training materials, her powerful presence and skillful workshops brought about her immerse popularity with teachers and reseachers in Russia and abroad. 

She was a regular speaker at international conferences in many countries, where she supported exchange of ideas and best practices among universities and scholars. In recognition of her services to science, Elena Solovova was awarded 2 "VDNKh Laureate" gold medals, Certificate of Recognition of the State of Arkansas, Certificate of Honor of the Russian Federation Ministry of Education. 

The importance of Elena Solovova's works, her energetic personality and brilliant intellect will live on in the loving memory of her colleagues, students and everyone who has had a chance to meet Elena in person or read her works.
